As we got further i to the process the relationship went south. We then received a more refined estimate which was 73% higher than the original estimate. Part of the explanation was the original estimate was based on year old costs. This should have been brought to our attention when we received the initial estimate.
The cost of land is also not included in this estimate. It’s worth noting that Dickson Homes only serves Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Buyers based far away from Dickinson County may face all-in prices higher than buyers more local to their headquarters.

Digging deeper, we found we were being charged $50/dimmer switch, at most this should be. Many snide comments when asking for more cost details and questioning costs. In the end we cancelled the project as it seemed clear there was no interest in our project. To us a classic bait and switch that cost us thousands.
